Mississauga chemical peels treatment
Chemical peels are designed to peel away the topmost layers of skin using a customized combination of chemicals. These peels are available in three categories with different strengths and types. Dr. Faisal Al Mohammedi (Dermcare) provides safe and proven chemical peels treatment in Mississauga to appropriate candidates.
Light Peels
Light or superficial peels can be used by people of all skin types without concern for side effects or risks of complications. These peels are recommended for treating minor skin problems. There is no need for anesthesia as there is only minimal discomfort experienced during this procedure. It can be performed as an outpatient procedure.
A mild form of glycolic acid is used by a dermatologist providing light peels. There is almost no downtime required in most cases with healing occurring rapidly. It is possible for the skin to appear pink for a few days, which can be easily hidden by makeup.
Medium Peels
Medium chemical peels are also performed as outpatient procedures, though they require a couple days of downtime. TCA acid is one of the most common peeling agents used for medium peels. This peel allows for deeper penetration in the skin as compared to superficial peel. Healing takes a week after the peeling treatment during which makeup cannot be applied.
After this peel, new skin will appear in a few days. The treated skin will become crusty and flake away after turning reddish brown almost immediately after the treatment. There is minimal pain and discomfort with this procedure.
Deep Peels
Candidates who want to substantially enhance their skin appearance and looks without undergoing surgery might consider deep peels. These are maximum strength peels and involve very strong concentrations of TCA. A deep peel treatment works to remove the upper layers of the skin, after which new and younger looking skin appears.
At least two weeks are needed for recovery, during which social and work activities need to be put on hold. It will take three weeks for the redness in the skin to fade away. Dramatic improvements can be expected in most cases with full results appearing only after several months.
